Important Security Notice for RakefetOnline Clients: Update Google Chrome
We want to make RakefetOnline clients aware of an important security concern affecting Google Chrome desktop users on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
A high-severity security warning has been issued regarding vulnerabilities found in older versions of Google Chrome. These security flaws could potentially allow attackers to compromise a computer when a user visits a malicious or specially crafted website.
Update Chrome — But Be Careful How You Do It
Keeping your browser and operating system up to date is an important part of protecting your computer and your organization’s data. However, Chrome updates should only be installed through Google Chrome’s built-in update feature. Do not click pop-ups, advertisements, extensions, or website messages claiming that your browser needs to be updated.
This precaution is especially important because of recent reports involving a Chrome extension called Enable Right Click & Copy – Smart Unlock + OCR. The extension was originally created as a legitimate tool that allowed users to restore right-click and copying functionality on websites where those features had been disabled.
Security researchers later reported that the extension had been acquired by a threat actor and subsequently updated to include malicious functionality. At the time the malicious behavior was discovered, the extension reportedly had approximately 70,000 users. Researchers have emphasized that this does not necessarily mean every user received or was affected by the malicious version.
The extension was subsequently removed from the Chrome Web Store after being identified as potentially malicious.
What RakefetOnline Clients Should Do
Because RakefetOnline operates through your web browser, we strongly recommend keeping Google Chrome updated to the latest available version. Browser updates are important not only for RakefetOnline, but also for protecting your computer and other websites and online services you use.
The warning identifies older Chrome desktop versions as vulnerable. Rather than relying on a particular version number, however, we recommend installing whatever version Chrome currently identifies as the latest update available for your computer.

- Open Google Chrome.
- Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the upper-right corner.
